DHHS/ACF announces Ethnic Community Self Help Program

Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) has announced the funding under the Ethnic Community Self-Help (ECSH) Program.

The goal of this program is to support Ethnic Community-Based Organizations (ECBOs) in providing refugee populations with critical services to assist them in becoming integrated members of American society.

Objectives

To strengthen ECBOs’ provision of culturally and linguistically appropriate services to refugees within five years after their initial resettlement.
To support ECBOs’ organizational development and engagement in capacity building by encouraging their collaboration with established refugee service providers and mainstream organizations.
To support ECBOs in promoting community building and civic participation by refugee individuals and refugee community members.

Estimated Total Program Funding: $2,000,000
Award Ceiling: $200,000
Award Floor: $100,000

Eligibility Criteria

Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized)
County governments
City or township governments
Special district governments
State governments
Public housing authorities/Indian housing authorities
Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
Independent school districts
Public and State controlled institutions of higher education
Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments)
Private institutions of higher education
