The Community Foundations of Ireland is inviting applications for the Energia Meenadreen Community Benefit Fund to Support non-profit organisations and the local community within the immediate vicinity of the Meenadreen Windfarm, Donegal.
The Energia Meendareen Fund is now entering its sixth year, and looks to continue to support communities neighbouring the wind farm a range of organisations within the immediate vicinity of the Meenadreen Windfarm and extending to Donegal Town on occasion.
Funding Information
- Organisations/projects can apply for a maximum of €10,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications are welcome from non-profit organisations within the immediate vicinity of the Meenadreen Wind Farm
- Applications are also welcome from non-profit organisations up to 14km away from the windfarm, however priority will be given to those located within a 10km radius from the Meenadreen windfarm.
- Local organisations and community groups are urged to apply this October.
- Applicant Requirements
- Applications must be from community and voluntary groups that possess charitable aims and are not for profit
- Groups must demonstrate capacity and willingness to share their story with Energia’s media team to share internally within the company and as local media opportunities arise.
- Applicant organisations must submit their Annual Accounts or most recent set of Audited Accounts
- Applicant organisations must have an organisational bank account
- A copy of a recent bank statement must be submitted with each application – This is for account verification only and all financial transactions may be redacted before submission
- Proposals must include clear, detailed, realistic costs and timescales
- Applicants must be prepared to evaluate and learn from their work as well as to share project learning and outcomes
- They encourage applicant organisations to consider adopting The Governance Code for charities
- A commitment to equal opportunities must be demonstrated
- Organisations working with cohorts under the age of 18 will be required to produce a copy of their Child Protection Policy
Criteria
- Applicants should have an organisational bank account or access to one. All grants will be paid by bank transfer directly to the applicant organisation.
- Applications must be from community and voluntary groups that possess charitable aims and are not for profit.
- All successful applicants must submit an Interim Progress Report after six months and a Final Outcome and Financial Monitoring Report after twelve months confirming how the grant has been spent and the impacts of the project.
Ineligible
- The Community Foundation for Ireland cannot fund:
- Profit-making enterprises
- Sport organisations
- Religious or political activities
- Projects that have already happened
- Applications that are missing the required governance documents
- Applications must meet the criteria above and must include a detailed realistic budget and timeline for the project.
- The Fund Will Not Cover
- Core or ongoing overhead costs of grantee organisations, proposals for equipment costs only, promotion of religious causes, work that has already taken place, non-charitable activities, general political donations, sponsorship or fundraising events, work taking place outside of the designated area
