The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands is currently inviting eligible organizations to submit applications for the 2018 Human Rights Fund.
Themes
- Freedom of expression
- Promote press freedom and encourages public dialogue through quality journalism.
- Advance respect for human rights through online outlets and promotes safety of human rights defenders, bloggers and activists.
- Socio- Economic rights
- Effective implementation of fair social-economic policies is the basis of reform and progress. Enforcement of the Rule of Law is key to ensure that all citizens are treated equally.
Objectives
- Improved policies that stimulate the investment climate and labor rights through engaging relevant stakeholders.
- Promote joint efforts to improve socio -economic justice.
- Enhance the capacity of the Jordanian Human Rights organizations that strive at improving Human Rights status through following socio-economic developments, raise awareness on citizens’ rights and counter violations. Joining efforts, sharing experiences on best practices and dialogue amongst organizations are key for the advancement of socio-economic justice in Jordan.
Grant Information
Indicative budgets can go up to a maximum of JOD 100.000 (for a one year project) and up to a maximum of JOD 195.000 (for a two years project); maximum overhead allowed is 7.5% of the total budget.
Duration
Duration of the project may not exceed two years.
Eligibility Criteria
- Only local non-governmental or semi-governmental non-profit organizations can apply.
- To be eligible for a contribution under the Human Rights Fund, activities must relate to one or more of the above mentioned themes.
- Activities are to be implemented in Jordan.
- Charitable or commercial activities are not eligible.
Selection Procedure
The assessment procedure shall consider the following components:
- whether the proposed activity relates to one or more of the highlighted priorities;
- whether the proposal contains a specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-related realization of its objective(s);
- whether the proposed schedule of implementation is well planned and the duration is reasonable;
- whether the proposed budget is realistic and cost-effective with full justification for every expenditure item;
- sustainability of the activity;
- whether gender is a cross-cutting theme in the proposed action plan;
- novel and innovative intervention;
- communication with relevant stakeholders such as officials and community representatives;
- the past performance of the applicant, including the effectiveness of past projects, activities or initiatives; and
- whether there is, or is likely to be, a duplication of previous initiatives by this or other organisations
- activities in the area of culture, art or theatre are unfavorable.
