Deadline: 27-Jun-25
A new opportunity is now open for civil society and humanitarian organizations working to support women and girls in the Oromia region of Ethiopia. An international program is inviting expressions of interest to implement a focused initiative addressing prevention, risk mitigation, and response services related to gender-based violence (GBV) and child protection.
The initiative will be implemented across several woredas, including Leka Dulech, Wayu Tuka, Gimbe, Nejo, Boji Dirmeji, Lalo Dirmeji, Kuyu, and Gawo Kembe. The primary aim is to improve access to life-saving support for women and girls while enhancing the overall safety and protection environment in conflict- or crisis-affected communities.
The program’s expected outcome is to ensure that women and girls not only have access to services that support their healing and recovery from violence but also face fewer risks within their communities.
Specifically, the initiative will focus on increasing access to age-appropriate services for GBV survivors, such as health care, psychosocial support, and protective services. It will also promote risk reduction strategies to improve safety and equitable access to humanitarian aid.
Funding for selected projects will range between $50,000 and $250,000, depending on scope and scale. The total project period will last for eight months, starting from August 2025 and continuing until March 2026.
To be considered, applicants must demonstrate relevant expertise in GBV prevention, risk mitigation, and response. Prior experience working in humanitarian contexts and delivering protection services to vulnerable populations—especially women and girls—is critical. Organizations with prior collaborations with UN agencies or extensive presence in the specified woredas of Oromia will have a competitive edge.
The quality of the concept note, technical soundness, proposed methodology, and alignment with program goals will be key factors in the evaluation. Proposals that incorporate interdisciplinary methods and clearly show measurable impact on beneficiaries will be favored. Local experience, operational capacity, and collaborative approaches will also be considered during the selection process.
This program presents a vital opportunity for organizations working at the intersection of gender, protection, and community resilience to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable populations across Oromia.
