The European Union (EU) is currently accepting proposals from eligible organizations to provide funding under two programme lots:
- LOT 1: European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) – Country Based Support Scheme (CBSS): support civil society, democracy activists and human rights defenders to work on human rights protection and promotion (political, civil, economic, social and cultural) and democratisation in Bangladesh.
- LOT 2: Civil Society and Local Authorities Thematic Programme – “Civil Society Organizations Contribution to Governance and Development Process”: support CSOs’ contribution to democratic governance in Bangladesh.
Size of Grants
Any grant requested under this Call for Proposals must fall between the following minimum and maximum amounts:
- For LOT 1 – EIDHR CBSS
- minimum amount: EUR 300,000.00
- maximum amount: EUR 900,000.00
- For LOT 2 – CSOs’ contributions to governance and development
- minimum amount: EUR 900,000.00
- maximum amount: EUR 1,500,000.00
Eligibility Criteria
- LOT 1 – EIDHR CBSS: In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:
- be a legal person and
- be non-profit-making and
- be a specific type of organisation such as: civil society organisations, including non-governmental non-profit organisations and independent political foundations, community-based organisations and private-sector non-profit agencies, institutions and organisations and networks thereof at local, national, regional and international level; or
- public-sector non-profit-agencies, institutions and organisations and networks at local, national, regional and international level and
- be established in Bangladesh or in a Member State of the European Union or in a contracting party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area and
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary and
- comply with relevant legislation to be able to implement the Action, and
- have a track record in the implementation of human rights projects.
- LOT 2 – CSOs’ contributions to governance and development: In order to be eligible for a grant, the applicant must:
- be a legal person and
- be non-profit-making and
- be a specific type of organization such as: civil society organisations, including non-governmental non-profit organizations and independent political foundations, community-based organizations and private-sector non-profit agencies, institutions and organizations and networks thereof at local, national, regional and international level;
- be established in Bangladesh or in the EU Member States or in a contracting party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area and
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant (s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary and
- comply with relevant legislation to be able to implement the Action, and
- have a track record in the implementation of civil society projects.
How to Apply
- The application procedure consists of two phases:
- Concept notes
- Full applications
- In the first instance, only concept notes must be submitted for evaluation. Thereafter, lead applicants who have been pre-selected will be invited to submit a full application.
