The European Union (EU) is currently accepting proposals from eligible organisations for a program entitled “European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) – Country Based Support Scheme (CBSS) to Nepal for 2016 and 2017” with an aim to support civil society and human rights defenders in third countries in working on human rights (political, civil, economic, social and cultural), and democratization.
The programme is divided into three lots:
- Lot I: Promoting rights of girls from marginalised groups and children with special needs:
- Lot II: Promoting Economic and social rights of the most marginalised groups:
- Lot III: Promoting accountability at the local level:
Size of Grants
Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between EUR 280 000 and EUR 300 000.
Eligibility Criteria
- In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:
- be a legal person or an entity without legal personality registered or organised at least three years before the call is launched and
- be non-profit-making and
- be a specific type of organisation such as: (a) civil society organisations, including non-governmental non-profit organisations and independent political foundations, community-based organisations and private-sector non-profit agencies, institutions and organisations and networks thereof at local or national level; (b) independent national body constituted under the domestic law or public-sector non-profit agencies, institutions and organisations and networks at local, national, regional and international level
- be established in a Member State of the European Union or in Nepal.
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary
- be able to demonstrate that they have regularly carried out activities in the particular issues covered by the proposed project at least during the last two years at the time of the submission of an application.
- be allowed to implement activities in accordance with the Nepalese legal provisions.
- International organisations (international public-sector organisations set up by intergovernmental agreements as well as specialised agencies set up by them; the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies) are not eligible applicants under this call for proposals.
- Potential applicants may not participate in calls for proposals or be awarded grants if they are in any of the situations
- The lead applicant must declare that the lead applicant himself, the co-applicants and affiliated entity (ies) are not in any of these situations.
- The lead applicant must act with co-applicant(s) as specified hereafter.
How to Apply
- The application procedure consists of two phases:
- Concept notes
- Full applications
- In the first instance, only concept notes must be submitted for evaluation. Thereafter, lead applicants who have been pre-selected will be invited to submit a full application.
