The European Union (EU) is currently accepting proposals from eligible organisations for a program entitled “strengthening the role of civil society in promoting inclusive development in fiji”.
The programme is divided into two lots:
- Lot 1- Civil Society Organisations (CSO-LA): Focus on country level enhancing CSOs’ contribution to governance and development processes
- Lot 2- The European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR): Supporting local civil society through Country-Based Support Schemes (CBSS)
Objectives
- Lot 1 CSOs:
- To strengthen Civil Society Organisations in Fiji to actively promote and participate in governance and accountability.
- To support civil society actions that enable active citizenship at local and national level to contribute to governance and domestic accountability processes.
- Lot 2 EIDHR:
Size of Grants
Any grant requested under this Call for Proposals must fall between the following minimum and maximum amounts:
- Lot 1 CSOs:
- Minimum amount: 500 000 EUR
- Maximum amount: 1 000 000 EUR
- Lot 2 EIDHR:
- Minimum amount: 300 000 EUR
- Maximum amount: 600 000 EUR
Location
Actions must take place in Fiji.
Duration
The initial planned duration of an action may not be lower than 24 months nor exceed 36months.
Eligibility Criteria
- Lot 1: Civil Society Organisations (CSOs)
- In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:
- be a legal person and
- be non-profit-making and
- be a Civil Society Organisation (CSOs) and/or associations of CSOs and
- be established in Fiji where the Action is taking place, or a Member State of the European Union or in a Member State of the European Economic Area (EEA) and
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary.
- International Organisations are not eligible under Lot 1 CSO.
- Lot 2: European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR)
- In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:
- be a legal person and
- be non-profit-making and
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary.
- belong to one of the following categories (See Art. 11 (2) of the Regulation (EU) No 236/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 March 2014 laying down common rules and procedures for the implementation of the Union’s instruments for financing external action):
- civil society organisations, including non-governmental non-profit organisations and independent political foundations, community based organisations, and private sector non-profit agencies, institutions and organisations, and networks thereof at local, national, regional and international level;
- public sector non-profit agencies, institutions and organisations and networks at local, national, regional, and international level;
- national, regional and international parliamentary bodies, when this is necessary to achieve the objectives of the EIDHR and the proposed measure cannot be financed under another Instrument;
- International or regional inter-governmental organisation, and
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary.
How to Apply
- The application procedure consists of two phases:
- Concept notes
- Full applications
- In the first instance, only concept notes must be submitted for evaluation. Thereafter, lead applicants who have been pre-selected will be invited to submit a full application.
