The European Commission is currently accepting proposals from eligible organisations for a programme entitled “Enhanced Support to Democratic Governance in Jordan” with an aim to support Jordan’s reform process towards consolidation of deep democracy and to promote inclusiveness of national policy and decision making processes, including women and youth, leading to a stronger democratic and tolerant political culture.
Objectives
- To strengthen the functioning of the House of Representatives (HoR) in exercising its core parliamentary functions in a professional, accountable and transparent manner.
- To enhance the functioning of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) and other key stakeholders, hence contributing to elections conducted in a professional, transparent and credible manner.
- To support the political party system in contributing to democratic governance and policy making, in particular in the Parliament.
Size of Grants
Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between EUR 12,000,000 and EUR 12,000,000.
Location
Actions must take place in the following country: The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
Duration
The initial planned duration of an action may not be lower than 48 months nor exceed 48 months.
Eligibility Criteria
- In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:
- be a legal person and
- be non-profit-making and
- be a non-governmental organisation or foundation, a public sector operator (including a development agency of a Member State of the European Union) or an international (inter-governmental) organisation as defined by Article 43 of the Rules of application of the EU Financial Regulation and
- be established in a Member State of the European Union or one the countries specified in Annex I of Regulation (EU) No 232/2014 establishing a European Neighbourhood Instrument (ENI). This obligation does not apply to international organisations and
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary and
- have been awarded and successfully implemented (or being successfully implementing) a grant of an amount of at least EUR 2,000,000 for a similar action in the last three years
- Potential applicants may not participate in calls for proposals or be awarded grants if they are in any of the situations
- The lead applicant must declare that the lead applicant himself, the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies) are not in any of these situations.
- The lead applicant may act individually or with co-applicant(s).
