Excellence Award for Civil Society Organizations for Egyptian NGOs and Associations

Nominations are open for Excellence Award for Civil Society Organizations with an aim to support the development of the NGO sector and providing ways to raise their professional and administrative capacities.

It also encourages innovation and raising the role of NGOs to private sector institutions to support serious projects in the field of development in order to contribute to finding solutions to problems. Community:

  • The Excellence Award is an annual award.
  • Announces annually the theme of the award taking into account the diversity of topics in order to continuously support the distinguished efforts in various areas of development.
  • The themes of the award focus annually on projects that target community problems and contribute to the development process.

Award Theme

  • The topics of the award focus on different areas of development to reach creative experiences and projects that are successful and influential in the lives of individuals.
  • The Award Committee focuses on the efforts of NGOs in Egypt to create development in society and solve its problems, as well as contribute to support the efforts of the State to meet the humanitarian, social and economic needs of society.

Award Goals

  • Raising the level of civil society organizations and motivating NGOs to highlight best practices in development fields, thus contributing to the expansion of the beneficiaries.
  • Supporting distinguished NGOs aiming at human development and community development.
  • Promote the exchange of experiences and encourage innovation to find solutions to the problems facing community development.
  • Highlighting the ability of associations to manage successful projects.

Prize Categories

  • First prize: 150,000 Egyptian pounds
  • Second prize: 100,000 Egyptian pounds
  • Third prize: 75,000 Egyptian pounds
  • Fourth prize: 50,000 LE
  • The Excellence Award consists of certificates of excellence, financial grants and in-kind awards.
  • The winning societies must obtain a minimum of 80% in the evaluation of the arbitration committees.

Eligibility Criteria

The Award is available to all Egyptian NGOs and Associations which comply with the following conditions:

  • The Association shall be restricted in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Associations and Non-Governmental Organizations and shall have an approved internal regulation.
  • The association shall have a fixed place to carry out its activities (title deed, lease agreement, allocation declaration or right of use).
  • The association or NGO has been publicized for three years and has at least one approved budget.
  • The association must pay the grant funds only in projects or programs for human development.
  • Development should be the main focus of the activities of associations or NGOs.
  • The association or institution shall have the financial audit report for the last two years
  • The association or institution shall have permanent employment (minimum 5 employees)
  • The association or organization has a business precedent for projects.
  • The association or institution must be present for all the papers required to apply for the prize.
