The Foundation for Civil Society (FCS), an independent Tanzanian Not-For-Profit Development Organization is seeking applications for its 2016 Grants Programme in order to strengthen the civil society sector in Tanzania thereby (in) directly enabling CSOs and citizens become key driving forces for positively influencing democratic governance in Tanzania and better quality of life for all.
The strategy covers four key results areas which include Good Governance, livelihood/economic development, capacity strengthening and Institutional development.
FCS has opened up two windows of grants applications for 2016:
- Window 1: Medium Grants: FCS will provide medium grant size to CSOs to implement project within each key priority areas mentioned below.
- Window 2: Innovative Grant: The innovative grant targets organizations that will implement their own creative solutions to challenges facing communities.
Priority Areas
- Citizen’s participation, Voice and Inclusion
- Quality of Policy, Legal and Institutional Frameworks
- Accountable decision making
- Effective public service delivery
Funding Information
- Window 1:The project implementation period will be for one year for any amount starting from TZS 50,000,000 to TZS 120,000,000. However the applicant may apply up to a maximum of TZS 360,000,000 for three years.
- Window 2: The project implementation period will be one year and an organization may apply between TZS 20,000,000 to TZS 50,000,000.
Eligibility Criteria
The following institutions are eligible to apply for grants at the Foundation for civil society:
- Non-governmental Organisations (NGO);
- Community Based organization (CBO) ;
- Professional Associations
- Trade Unions
- Media Organisation
- Faith Based Organization (FBO)
- Cooperative
