FHI 360 is seeking applications from South African non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for grants in support of a one-year Accelerated Targeted Community-based HIV Testing Services (ATC-HTS) Initiative to be implemented in Nkangala district of Mpumalanga Province and Thabo Mofuntsanyana district of Free State Province.
This initiative is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), and managed by FHI 360.
Project Goals
In line with the UNAIDS 90-90-90 targets, the goal of this initiative is to increase uptake of community-based HTS, with effective linkage to and retention in care and treatment among most at risk individuals, priority populations and undiagnosed HIV-positive individuals in targeted communities/areas in Mpumalanga (Nkangala district) and Free State (Thabo Mofuntsanyana district: Dihlabeng Local Municipality).
Project Objectives
- To increase case identification of undiagnosed people living with HIV through community-based HIV testing that uses high-yield HTS modalities.
- To ensure that 90% of those identified/diagnosed through community-based testing are linked to care and treatment services and initiated on ART.
- To ensure quality assurance through implementation of high-quality community-based HTS among high-risk and vulnerable populations.
Eligibility Criteria
- Only applications from bonafide South African organisations will be considered. For purposes of this APS an “indigenous South African organisations” is defined as an organisation:
- Registered and incorporated under laws of the Republic of South Africa
- Based and conducts its business within borders of Republic of South Africa
- With majority of it’s broad of directors and decision-making structures resident in the Republic of South Africa
- The local organisation should have full autonomy in programmatic operations.
- The applicants should have experience in high-quality community-based HTS, referrals/linkages, and care and treatment
- The applicants may be community-based organisation, faith-based organisation, civil society organisation etc.
- Organisations that already have a presence or are currently working in any/all of the targeted geographical areas
