Deadline: 21 February 2017
Through Financing Innovation: the Sectoral Innovation Facility for NGOs (Fisong), The French Development Agency is seeking applications for its program entitled “Digital Inclusion”.
Created in 2007, FISONG allows the development of partnerships between French and international NGOs and the AFD, around the co-financing of innovative projects on the different sectors that affect development.
Through this FISONG, AFD looks for possible links between its interventions and the actions of NGOs, upstream, during or after projects. The proposals presented by the NGOs should allow and energize the participation of excluded populations. It will be a matter of promoting in a sustainable way the participation of these populations in the public life of the community, at the local, regional or national level.
Objectives
- Enhancing and encouraging innovation and capitalization capacities of NGOs;
- Create synergies between AFD and NGOs to improve the coordination of public policies with non-governmental cooperation initiatives;
- Strengthen the partnership with NGOs as support vehicles adapted to situations of absence or failure of public works contractors.
Funding Information
The amount allocated by AFD to this call for proposals is 2.5 million euros for a priori financing of 3 to 4 projects with a maximum duration of 3 years.
Eligibility Criteria
- The FISONG scheme is intended for NGOs equipped with the necessary capacities and tools for conducting innovation processes and for consulting with sectoral AFD managers (problematization, design, experimentation, evaluation, capitalization, dissemination, Scale …) in specialized areas of expertise. However, young and innovative structures are encouraged to participate alongside more established NGOs.
- NGOs can be French or international, and rely as much as possible on partners in the countries of intervention. Consortium projects between several NGOs or partners in the private sector (digital companies, social enterprises, start-ups, schools, third parties etc.) are encouraged.
- The objective being to be able to select several projects that innovate on various dimensions, the NGOs candidates for this FISONG will avoid submitting a project which alone would take up too much of the 2.5 M € available.
