The French Embassy in Senegal has launched its 2019 “Gambia-Senegal Gender Initiatives” Call for Proposals.
The PISCCA (Innovative Project of Civil Societies and Coalitions of Actors) is a program initiated by the Embassy of France, with the ambition to promote the initiatives of the civil society in Senegal and Gambia.
Objectives
- The general objective of PISCCA « Promoting Gender Initiatives in Senegal and The Gambia » is to promote the emergence of empowered women, better considered in society and able to participate actively in the emergence of their country.
- The three specific objectives are:
Funding Information
Within the framework of this call for projects, the amount of the grant which can be assigned by the French Embassy for each project will be between 5,000€ (equivalent to 3,279,785 CFA francs / 279,329.60 Dalasis) and 30,000 € (equivalent to 19,678,710 CFA francs / 1,675,977.65 Dalasis).
Duration
Projects should not exceed a twelve (12) month period.
The Programme Components
In accordance with the objectives set out in point I, the programme is based on three components:
- Component 1: projects to aimed at combatting prejudices, violence and discrimination against women
- Component 2: projects aimed at facilitating the exercise of their rights by women (health, justice, education …) and / or facilitating their living conditions
- Component 3: projects aimed at facilitating the accession of women to the economic and / or political sphere
Project holders are thus invited to present a project meeting one of these three components.
Projects may take place in Senegal, The Gambia or simultaneously in both countries.
Transversally, two cross-cutting strategic priorities are strongly encouraged in the formulation of projects:
- Territorial coverage: Given the strong polarization of civil society in Dakar and Banjul, and the importance of strengthening its capacity to intervene throughout the territory, given the specific problems faced by rural women, the projects will ensure to support priority the deployment of initiatives in the regions.
- Digital innovation: ICT mobilization will also be strongly encouraged in the projects presented. New technologies will be, to the extent possible, used in the service of promoting equality between men and women.
Eligibility Criteria
The project is open to the following organizations:
- Non-profit organizations (NGOs, associations, unions, etc.), legally recognized, of local law and operational since over 12 months
- Think-tanks and research institutes.
