The City of Stirling is currently seeking applications for its Get to Know Your Neighbour Grant to support a gathering with your neighbours.
The purpose of the Get to Know Your Neighbor program is to provide an opportunity for residents to bring together neighbors that they may not have spoken to before or would like to get to know better.
The Grant is aimed at increasing connection in neighborhoods within the City of Stirling to create thriving communities and liveable neighbourhoods.
What to Consider?
- Who are you inviting? The aim of this grant is to connect with as many neighbors as possible, where possible invite the everyone on the street.
- Neighbors will be more likely to attend if they are involved in planning, recruiting neighbors and diving tasking will help increase attendance. Chat with them before submitting an application.
- What will you purchase with the funds? The grant is designed to support with the cost associated with the event, not cover it. Check with your neighbors to see if they can help by bringing something, this can be something they already have such as sauce or napkins or you could ask everyone to bring a plate.
- Events are required to be alcohol free.
- All events must be hosted within the City of Stirling (either on your street or a park within walking distance).
- Events should be inclusive and cannot be invite only.
Funding Information
- Up to $100 can be applied for.
What Won't Funding be Provided For?
- Disposable items such as plates, cups, decorations balloons
- Every day household items such as gas for BBQs
- Items not related to the gathering
- soft drinks
- Presents or gifts
- Gatherings that are political or religious.
What Can Funding be Used For?
- BBQ food
- Plater from a local cafe or restaurant
- nibbles
- Face painter for the Children

Eligibility Criteria
- Residents within the City of Stirling.
- Streets that have little or no connection with their neighbours.
- If you have recently had new people move into the street.
- If you have recently moved to a new house and would like to meet your neighbours.
Who Can't Apply?
- Street that have received a grant already within the financial year.
- Streets that have received previously received funding up to three times in a row.
- Individuals outstanding without debts or acquittals with the City of Stirling.
