The 2018-2019 call for proposals for family violence prevention projects off-reserve that support First Nations, Inuit or Métis is now open.
The Family Violence Prevention Program (FVPP) supports the day-to-day operations of 41 shelters and provides funding for community-driven proposals for family violence prevention projects on and off reserve.
For this call, Indigenous organizations, associations and societies that have family violence prevention as part of their mandate will be prioritized.
Funding Information
The total amount of funding available per proposal is $50,000.
Eligible Activities
Projects that fit the following themes will be prioritized:
- trauma-informed care and mental wellness
- family violence prevention awareness for Indigenous youth
- empowering Indigenous women and girls
- vulnerability to violence associated with the transition between on- and off-reserve
- engaging Indigenous men and boys
- trafficking and sexual exploitation
Eligibility Criteria
Organizations located off-reserve that provides programs or services to First Nations, Inuit or Métis.
Selection criteria
Priority will be given to family violence prevention projects that identify:
- a target audience (for example, women, men, youth, children and/or families)
- a specific need (for example, addressing violence in high-risk communities)
- a delivery method (seminar, healing circle, cultural camp, etc.)
- an emphasis on leveraging partnerships and additional resources
- partners could include federal, provincial, municipal or community governments, as well as communities and non-government organizations
- In applicant’s cover letter briefly note the role of partners with their application
- tangible and measureable expected results
- strong community participation
- linkages with community planning, objectives or identified needs
- a sustainable best-practice project that could be shared and adapted for use elsewhere
