The Women’s Peace & Humanitarian Fund is thrilled to announce its latest call for proposals in Burundi to enhance the meaningful participation and decision making of women in conflict prevention processes.
Objectives
WPHF seeks to fund qualifying local organizations and projects led by and working alongside women and girls in Burundi that are high impact, innovative and contribute directly to the following objectives:
- Increase the meaningful participation and decision-making of women in conflict prevention processes;
- Reinforce the institutional capacity of civil society organizations working on women peace and security.
Funding Streams
This call for proposals makes available financing for local civil society organizations in Burundi through two primary funding streams:
- Funding Stream 1: Institutional funding from 2,500 USD to 30,000 USD
- To provide institutional financing to local civil society organizations working on women peace and security, aiming to reinforce their institutional skills and capacity.
- Funding Stream 2: Programmatic funding from 30,000 USD to 200,000 USD
- To support CSO projects and programmatic activities contributing to the meaningful participation and enhanced decision-making of women in conflict prevention processes and interventions.
Components
The proposal will align with the title ‘s impact re lati ve to flap WPHF funding which the organization chooses to apply :
- Component 1 : Institutional funding (Impact Area 1 of the WPHF) for strengthening the institutional capacities of civil society organizations working to implement commitments relating to the Women, Peace and Security (FPS) agenda .
- Component 2 : Programmatic funding ( WPHF Impact Area 2 ) for conflict prevention.
Geographic focus
- The projects will have to be implemented in the localities in the following Provinces Muyinga and Kirundo and Bujumbura.
Eligibility Criteria
Who is eligible for a grant?
- Are allowed to apply : International organizations [1] , national and local advocates for women’s rights, feminists or civil society, led by women and with proven experience of working with women and girls . Field organizations and local community organizations are particularly encouraged to apply. Joint projects are allowed and encouraged.
- To be considered a “feminist or women’s rights organization”, the organization must be committed to addressing multiple / interrelated forms of discrimination as well as advancing gender equality and women’s rights in the official statement of its mission / vision. The organization must work to transform the underlying factors / systems / structures, including patriarchy and gender power dynamics, which perpetuate gender-based violence.
- A “women-led organization” should have a woman at the helm in the leadership role of the organization.
- Other CSOs should demonstrate experience in addressing violence against women and girls, gender inequalities and / or women’s rights.
- To qualify as an organization defending “the rights of young people,” the mission / official vision of the organization must reflect its commitment to fight against the multiple forms / Cross discrimination and promote the rights of youth.
- “Youth-led organization” should be youth-led as defined by the country / organization .
- Other CSOs should demonstrate their experience in addressing violence against women and girls, gender inequalities and / or women’s rights.
