Deadline: 24-Jun-2024
The NSW Government Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) is funding Carers NSW to support carer groups and organisations.
The grants are to be used to plan events or activities either online or in person to support and celebrate carers as part of National Carers Week, which is scheduled to run from 13-19 October 2024.
This year carer support groups and organisations from across NSW will be able to apply for a grant up to $500 to celebrate and recognise the contribution of family and friend carers in their communities by holding local events and activities.
Carers NSW looks forward to seeing the many ways in which grant applications will celebrate and recognise carers across NSW in 2024.
It is preferable that the events and activities are held during, or as close as possible to, National Carers Week. Carers NSW also recommends having a ‘Plan B’ option for your event should any health regulations and restrictions change that would prevent an in-person event being delivered.

Criteria
- It is a requirement that all 2024 grant applicants agree to comply with any COVID19 health regulations and guidelines in place at the time of your event. If you do not agree to the above requirements, unfortunately they are unable to consider your application for a National Carers Week Grant.
- Organisations applying for grants on behalf of different carer groups can apply for up to 8 grants. The groups must be unique carer support groups with a focus on a specific cohort of carers (e.g. young carers; specific CALD groups; older parent carers; carers of children on the autism spectrum etc.) supported or auspiced by the one organisation.
- Grants are specifically allocated to groups planning events for unpaid carers, caring for a family member or friend with disability, mental illness, drug and/or alcohol dependency, a chronic condition, terminal illness or who is frail. Foster and kinship carers may be included in these events if, for example, they care for a child living with disability.
