Deadline: 21 October 2019
The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina is accepting applications for its Women for Women (WFW) Grant Program to improve the lives of women and girls in Western North Carolina through women’s collective giving.
WFW works to create opportunities for women and girls of Western North Carolina through grantmaking, advocacy and advancing women’s philanthropy.
Focus Areas
- The 2020 Women for Women Grant Program promotes the Facilitation of Safe Living and Work Environments for Women and Girls: Addressing issues of violence against women and girls in Western North Carolina. Direct service or advocacy projects should clearly focus on one of the following priority areas:
- Elder Abuse
- Human Trafficking
- Intimate Partner Violence
- Sexting (Social Media)
- Bullying
- Sexual Violence (including sexual assault and harassment)
- Programs must demonstrate impact on safe living environments for women and girls.
- While Women for Women recognize that many strategies are important to improving the lives of women and girls, its membership wishes to focus on the priority areas listed above.
- Research has shown that education, transportation, childcare, life skills, jobs, housing and legal representation are factors inherent in the rescue, recovery and rehabilitation of women and girls to bring them out of violent and abusive situations. Proposals including these factors must be in relation to facilitating safe living environments for women and girls in Western North Carolina.
Women for Women will invest in programs that:
- Demonstrate sustainable and measurable social change for women and girls in WNC through services that promote freedom from violent and abusive situations
- Address causes or prevention of domestic abuse
- Make a long-term difference and increase safe living conditions in the lives of women and girls
- Advocate for safe living conditions for women and girls at various levels of society – communities, institutions, systems and policies
- Demonstrate collaborative and/or cooperative partnerships with other organizations and groups that yield greater impact than either organization could achieve alone
- Demonstrate commitment to organizational learning and capacity building
- Women for Women will make grants between $15,000 and $100,000, which may be used over one or two years.
Women for Women will accept proposals for:
- new programs
- program expansion
- operating expenses for existing programs (1 or 2 year grants; $50,000 limit total)
- direct service or advocacy
WFW considers advocacy programs to be those which promote social change for women and girls at various levels of society – communities, institutions, systems, and policies; it is NOT direct service to individual clients. All advocacy issues submitted should align with the WFW Focus Area and should not include lobbying efforts (i.e., should not influence specific legislation).
