The U.S. Embassy Bratislava Public Affairs Section is pleased to announce a notice of funding opportunity for grants to support programs that share American culture in Slovakia.
Objectives
- These funds may be used to support projects that:
- share the richness and diversity of American culture in Slovakia and promote cultural dialogue and people-to-people ties between the United States and Slovakia.
- Priority will be given to projects that:
- forge people-to-people connections between Americans and people living in Slovakia
- create ties between U.S. and Slovak institutions, organizations, and networking groups
- include and/or benefit diverse audiences and beneficiaries, such as persons with disabilities, immigrants, ethnic minorities, and people in rural areas
Funding Information
- Total available funding: $40,000 pending availability of funds
- Award amounts: awards may range from a minimum of $1,000 to a maximum of $24,999 (approximately)
- Length of performance period: up to 24 months.
Ineligible Activities
- Generally, grant funds may not be used to cover:
- projects that are inherently political in nature or that contain the appearance of partisanship/support to individual or single party electoral campaigns
- exchange programs
- social welfare projects
- projects that support specific religious activities
- trade activities; fundraising campaigns; commercial projects; scientific research; construction projects; projects whose primary aim is the institutional development of the organization itself
- translation for the purposes of publishing a book
- food and drink beyond the cost of coffee breaks and working lunches (alcohol cannot be funded at all)
- Your budget may include project coordination fees and administrative costs (accounting, office supplies, etc.) but the total of those costs should not exceed 10% of the total amount of the grant.
- Additional funding restrictions:
- None of the funds awarded resulting from this Notice of Funding Opportunity may be made available for sub awards, direct financial support, or otherwise used to provide any payment or transfer to United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).
- Award funds cannot be used for construction, vehicle purchases and similar investment costs. Also, award funds cannot be used to finance the standard operation of the applicant.
Geographical Focus
- The committee will give special consideration to projects that focus on audiences outside of the capital.
Eligibility Criteria
- Grants may be awarded to:
- Not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks, cultural institutions, and civil society/non-governmental organizations
- Public educational institutions
- Governmental institutions
- Individuals
- Not-for-profit organizations and individuals from the United States may apply but should present evidence of a relationship with a local partner operating in Slovakia in their proposals.
- One proposal per applicant. Any individual or organization that submits multiple proposals will be disqualified from consideration.
