The Arts Grant offers financial support to artists and arts groups on Haida Gwaii, with the aim of fostering new art projects, promoting professional growth, facilitating mentorship between artists, and enhancing public appreciation for local art.
Goals
- The goals of the Arts Grant include:
- Passing Down Skills: Preserve and share traditional knowledge and artistic skills between generations.
- Supporting Emerging Artists: Assist new artists in establishing a professional career in the arts.
- Developing Creative Practice: Provide opportunities for established artists to further refine and evolve their creative work.
- Professional Development: Promote access to training, workshops, and mentorship that help artists grow professionally.
- Increasing Public Access: Enhance public participation and appreciation of the Haida Gwaii arts community.

- Priority goes to first-time applicants, followed by those who haven’t received the Arts Grant in the past three years
- Projects that support emerging or established artists
- Projects that benefit communities on Haida Gwaii
- Projects with cultural impact
- Applications from experienced artists who want to mentor new artists or teach artistic skills or traditional knowledge
Eligibility Criteria
- You can apply:
- If you’re an artist living on Haida Gwaii for at least 24 consecutive months:
- Artist experiences levels:
- Emerging (1-3 years),
- Established (3-5 years),
- Professional (5-10 years),
- Master/mentor (10+ years)
- If you’re a non-profit art group on Haida Gwaii or an organization with an arts mandate.
- Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned professional, they welcome your application.
- If you’re an artist living on Haida Gwaii for at least 24 consecutive months:
- Applicants with overdue reports are not eligible to apply.
