The Heinrich Boll Foundation Afrique du Nord-RABAT (hbs) is part of the Green political movement is seeking applications for its Reportage on Water Management in Morocco.

Activities

  • Reportages covering the management of selected resources in Morocco, Tunisia, South Africa, Senegal
  • Compilation of statistical data on natural resource management that will be edited in an easily accessible way
  • Short cartoons on the challenges of natural resource management in Africa.

Objectives

  • The reportage on water management in Morocco is supposed to outline the current situation highlighting weakness and strength of the system in place and showcasing one or two successful (local) examples of participatory, just and sustainable water management in Morocco. In doing so, the reportage should provide the Moroccan public an insight into the challenges and regulatory barriers, but also potential strategies for developing a more sustainable, participatory and just water management in Morocco.
  • The specific objectives of the reportage are:
    • To provide an overview of the state of the art water management and regulations in Morocco, pointing our strength and weakness of the current system.
    • To analyze the legal, social, economic, environmental, gender-related and governance/political aspects of water management in Morocco (potentially the reportage could focus on a selected region).
    • To map the various actors whose interests are at stakes when it comes to the management of water resources and bring together their perspectives, specific interests, as well as their strategies/actions in this regard.
    • To analyze obstacles and opportunities for implementing a more sustainable and redistributive water management approach in Morocco
    • To identify and report on the good practices and initiatives having emerged in Morocco that might be replicated, e.g. a portrait of an initiative, association, commune successfully implementing a new model of water governance.

Eligibility Criteria

Journalists with extensive experience/knowledge in the field of governance and management of natural resources, especially water, in the Moroccan context.
