Deadline: 29 July 2018

High Commission of Canada in Ghana is seeking proposals for its Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) 2018-19.

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) supports small-scale but high-impact and results-oriented projects in developing countries, which align with the six action areas that guide the Government of Canada’s international assistance. The program is directed at projects conceived and designed predominantly by local civil society organizations (CSOs) and other grassroots organizations.

Thematic Priorities

All projects must align with at least one of the following CFLI thematic priorities:

  • Addressing sexual and gender-based violence, with a focus on preventing Child, Early and Forced Marriage (CEFM).
  • Strengthening environmental governance including through enhancing women’s participation in decision making to address climate change and environmental degradation.

Funding Information

  • The majority of the funded projects will receive up to a maximum of CAD$35,000. Please note this amount is in Canadian dollars.
  • All projects MUST be completed before 28 February, 2019.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Within the context of eligible countries, eligible recipients include:
    • local non-governmental, community and not-for-profit organizations,
    • local academic institutions working on local projects,
