The Auckland Council has announced the applications for Howick Quick Response Grant Program to provide contestable community grants to local communities.
Priorities
- Higher Priority
- They will prioritise applications that:
- demonstrate smokefree programmes
- demonstrate zero-waste activities
- have a contribution from the applicant (for example, financial contributions, or volunteer time) or have considered alternate funding sources
- demonstrate the benefit to the local community and are held in the local board area.
- They will prioritise applications that:
- Lower Priority
- They have identified the following activities as lower priorities:
- Fundraising events or activities, unless the activity or event has a wider community benefit.
- Ongoing operational costs including wages and salaries, with the exception of fees for professional services.
- Catering.
- Purchase of gear, assets, and/or equipment with limited future usage.
- Donations for volunteers, like petrol vouchers.
- They have identified the following activities as lower priorities:

- Arts
- Community
- Environment
- Events
- Heritage
- Sports and recreation
Outcomes
- An involved and connected community.
- Their future growth is managed effectively.
- They value their cultural diversity.
- They all treasure and enjoy their environment.
- Their people are active and healthy.
- They have a prosperous local economy.
Eligibility Criteria
- community organisations with a formal legal structure
- groups or individuals with no formal legal structure can apply for up to $1,000 (Kaipatiki Local Board will not fund individuals)
- applicants seeking funding over $1,000 will need to nominate an umbrella organisation or
- receive funding retrospectively.
Ineligible
In addition to the eligibility criteria outlined the Community Grants Policy, the Howick Local Board will not fund:
- applicants who have failed to complete or provide a satisfactory accountability form from previous grants
