The International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) is inviting associations or organizations of families of missing persons and civil society organizations to submit an application for its Small Grants for the Associations of Families of Missing Persons (FAs)/Civil Society Organization’s, Albania 2020-2021”.
As part of its Civil Society Development activities and through its Small Grants Program, ICMP calls for proposals from civil society organizations, associations of families of missing persons and associations of the politically persecuted to implement projects that increase participation of civil society groups, and family members of missing persons, especially women, in transitional and reconciliatory justice processes.
Objectives
ICMP will prioritize for proposals that meet at least one of the following objectives:
- Enhance organization, networking and joint action among CSOs, families of the missing and the politically persecuted;
- Advocate for authorities to ensure the preservation and protection of Communist era labour camps, execution and burial sites; and
- Build historical memory through commemorative events and memorials in former communist labour camps.
Areas of Support
- The projects and activities supported through Small Grants must be relevant to the role and challenges faced by families of the missing in Albania.
- The types of activities eligible for financial support include, but are not limited to:
- Develop innovative memorials in a participatory manner to mark Communist era labour camps, execution and burial sites;
- Organize human rights campaigns, exhibitions and use of audio-visual material, including the use of social media to raise awareness about the issue of persons missing from the Communist era in Albania;
- Conduct research/monitoring reports on efforts made by domestic institutions to address the issue of persons missing from the Communist era, to preserve Communist era labour camps, execution and burial sites, and to commemorate the politically persecuted; and
- Develop networking skills among CSOs engaged in dealing with the past, families of the missing and the politically persecuted.
Funding Information
Applicants may request from 7,000.00 Euro and up to 9,000.00 Euro for each project.
Eligibility Criteria
Civil Society Organization (NGO)/Associations of Families of Missing Persons (FA’s):
- That are legally registered as a not-for-profit civil society organization in Albania;
- That have demonstrated experience in the implementation of projects of at least 10,000 Euros;
- That have demonstrated experience of sound financial management, which is demonstrated by preparing annual financial reports;
- That apply for projects directly addressing the issue of missing persons
- ICMP will accept applications submitted by single organizations, but encourages joint applications submitted by two or more applicants.
Applicants may submit only one project proposal under this call for proposals.
