The Banyule City Council is currently seeking applications for its Inclusive Jobs Fund to support local not-for-profit community organizations to deliver valuable community services and creates employment opportunities for Banyule residents experiencing barriers to employment.
The Fund assists with the wage costs associated with hiring a new employee, as well as providing inclusive recruitment and employment advice through Council’s Inclusive Jobs Service.
Funding Information
- A pool of $44,000 is available and applicants can apply for up to $22,000.
Eligible Positions
- Positions seeking financial support from the Fund must:
- Provide at least 15 hours per week of work for a minimum of 6 months on a part- or full-time fixed-term contract or ongoing basis (casual positions will not be considered).
- Partner with Banyule Council’s Inclusive Jobs Service for the recruitment of the new role. Demonstrate a meaningful employment opportunity that will benefit the Banyule community in alignment with Council’s strategic priorities and the Community Vision 2041.
- Be paid at or relevant award rate; with the total funding amount not equating to more than the total wage cost.
- Be documented in a position description.
- Provide direct employment with the applicant (labour hire or subcontractor arrangements will not be considered).
- Not be displacing any current worker.
- Not be fully funded by any other external funding stream.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible to apply for the fund, organizations must
- Commit to using funding to recruit a Banyule resident who is unemployed and experiencing barriers to employment, and who has no previous employment relationship with the organization.
- Fall into one of the following: a legally constituted not for profit entity; a Charity or Benevolent Trust; or a Public Company (not for profit).
- Be located within the City of Banyule and provide support, programs or services to people in the City of Banyule.
- Have been established and operational for a minimum of 12 months.
- Be incorporated or have appropriate auspice support that covers all of the eligibility requirements.
- Have an ABN or be willing to complete a “Statement by Supplier”.
- Hold Public Liability Insurance to the value of $20 million.
- Be compliant with applicable workplace health and safety, industrial relations and taxation legislation.
- Hold all appropriate permits and licenses. This will include but is not restricted to; building and planning permits, liquor license, health and other statutory permits or licenses that are required for the business to be legal.
Ineligible Criteria
- Council will not provide funding for applicants that:
- Undertake or promote gambling, unless there is significant community benefit demonstrated.
- Have outstanding grant acquittals.
- Have outstanding debts owing to Council.
- Are seeking retrospective funding, ie funds for expenditure that has already occurred.
- Seek support or assistance from Councilors in their application; seeking or lobbying for Councilor input or support will have their application be automatically excluded from the Fund.
- Have received funding from the Inclusive Jobs Fund in the previous financial year.
