International Renewal Foundation: Supporting Anti-Corruption Initiatives at Regional and Local Level in Ukraine

International Renewal Foundation has announced a program entitled “support of anti-corruption initiatives at regional and local level”.

The purpose of the competition is to strengthen the tools for controlling the actions of the authorities at the local or regional level, to create and disseminate methods and practices in order to increase the capacity of the public in combating corruption, to provide citizens with objective information on corruption cases at the local / regional level.

Priority Areas

The priority of the competition is to apply at the local / regional level the anti-corruption tools as well as the tools and mechanisms of openness, transparency and accountability of public authorities in the following areas:

efficiency of use of state and communal property, local budgets, budgets of communal enterprises and institutions;
analysis of the use of natural resources;
corruption schemes in the field of land relations.

Advantages will be given to project proposals that will propose a system of anti-corruption mechanisms that can be extended to other regions of Ukraine.

Grant Information

The total budget of the contest is UAH 2,100,000.
The maximum grant size is UAH 250,000 (the optimal project budget is 130,000 – 200,000 hryvnias).
The term of the project implementation is up to 12 months.

Eligibility Criteria

Participants of the competition are public organizations, public unions, charitable organizations, mass media and bodies of self-organization of the population, which have:
- Non-profit status and officially registered in Ukraine;
- at least annual experience of organizations or project implementers in practical work in the field of combating corruption;
- Ability to implement and report on grant projects (including financial reporting).
Project proposals should include activities exclusively at the local / regional level, and apply to a specific area, district, territorial community, or a separate populated area or smaller parts thereof.
The project proposal should include:
- Clear criteria for selecting and justifying the scope of the project
- An algorithm for challenging violations, in case of their detection, in accordance with the current legislation
- Plan of media support of the project
