The Jim Joseph Foundation is currently requesting for proposals for Leadership Development for Current and Future Leaders in Jewish Education.
By investing in promising Jewish education grant initiatives, the Jim Joseph Foundation seeks to foster compelling, effective Jewish learning experiences for young Jews in the United States.
Awards and Benefits
Up to six three-year grants will be awarded in early fall 2017 ranging between $100,000-$300,000 per year.
The Initiative will include:
- Support of training of current or future leaders of Jewish education organizations serving one more of the Foundation’s target audiences of teens, college students, young adults, and families with young children (ages 0 to 5) OR programs training current or future leaders who are themselves members of one or more of these target audiences.
- Support of programs that offer training in the following areas: general leadership development (e.g., developing personal and professional purpose, vision, self-awareness, ability to motivate others, ability to communicate and collaborate), management skills (e.g., board and staff development, project management, strategy and transition planning), and/or technical knowledge (e.g., finance and fundraising, evaluation and research, HR and culture, etc.).
- An external evaluation of the funded initiative.
Eligibility Criteria
The Foundation welcomes proposals for programs that:
- Have a proven track record of training current or future leaders in Jewish education organizations serving one more of the Foundation’s target audiences of teens, college students, young adults, and families with young children (ages 0 to 5) OR training current or future leaders who are themselves members of one or more of these audiences.
- Have evidence of strong professional and lay leadership.
- Expand the pipeline of excellent talent to fill leadership positions within the field of Jewish education.
- Increase retention and advancement of Jewish education leaders.
- Reach professional and/or volunteer leaders at various stages of their careers (early-career, mid-career, and veteran leaders).
- Are not currently receiving support from the Foundation for leadership programming or for general operating support.
Organizations will be selected based on the following criteria:
- Proposed program aligns with the objectives stated above.
- Organizations have shown leadership in the Jewish education space, and ability to execute the program proposed.
- Proposed program addresses a demonstrated need, and is aligned with the mission of the organization.
- Financial stability of the organizations.
- Evidence of strong professional and lay leadership.
