Leeds Building Society Foundation is pleased to announce its grant programme to support those in need of a safe and secure home.
Themes
- Your project must meet the purpose through one or more of the following criteria themes:
- Applications can also apply under the theme ‘Health and wellbeing support for those experiencing homelessness’ if it’s part of wraparound support and the application also meets at least one of the other themes.
- They welcome applications from those who take a Housing First and/or relationship-based approach. In your application they’d like to see evidence of:
- Strength-based practice
- Trauma-informed care
- Psychologically-informed environments
Grant Types
- They’re looking to award over £1 million to causes that support the purpose through the grant giving.
- Small grants: up to £1,000
- Large grants: £25,000-£100,000
Eligibility Criteria
- Small grants
- They’ll fund:
- UK registered charities with a turnover of less than £1 million
- Applications for capital expenditure (purchase of items/equipment)
- Funding requests from organisations or projects based in the UK
- They’ll fund:
- Large grants
- They’ll fund:
- UK registered charities with a turnover of £5 million or less
- Applications for grants between £25,000 to £100,000 across one, two or three years
- Funding requests for organisations based in Yorkshire or the North East of England
- Running costs (rent, utility bills, insurance etc.)
- Staff and volunteer costs (including full-time and part time staff and project delivery staff.) All staff must be paid at least the Real Living Wage, set by the Living Wage Foundation

- They’ll fund:
Exclusions
- The Foundation is unfortunately unable to support:
- Religious, military, or political projects
- Charities or projects based overseas
- Individuals (including sponsorship)
- Animal welfare projects
- Local Scouts, Brownies or Girlguiding groups
- Medical research
- Retrospective costs (reimbursement for costs already incurred)
- Charities and projects that don’t align with the purpose of supporting people in need of a safe and secure home
