The United States Department of State is seeking proposals for its LGBTI Small Grants 2017 with an aim to improve human rights of LGBTI persons, and social and legal empowerment of LGBT people.
US State Department collects proposals to contribute to reducing discrimination against LGBT human rights on the basis of gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation.
Program Areas
The Institute for Youth Development and NGO and Business Audit doo Sarajevo managed USAID’s support to local groups representing the interests of marginalized populations through the following areas of activity:
- awarding grants to organizations that advocate for the rights and dignity of marginalized groups. These include: youth, women, persons with disabilities, Roma and members / of the LGBT community
- strengthening capacity for program and financial management of grant beneficiaries and other local organizations, institutions, and USAID’s partners in power, which promotes the rights and needs of marginalized groups
- humanitarian and / or financial assistance in order to improve the welfare and dignity of marginalized groups during unforeseen events such as natural disasters
Grant Information
The requested grant amount cannot exceed $ 25,000 for projects for up to 18 months.
Eligibility Criteria
In order to be selected for funding a project, potential beneficiaries of the funds must meet the following criteria:
- applicants must be registered as a non-profit legal entities under one of the Law on Associations and Foundations in BiH, and be oriented to providing services to the public;
- applicants must possess necessary reputation, experience and skills necessary to carry out the proposed activities;
- Applicants must not be bankrupt, in the process of closing, suspended business activities, as well as against them should not be guided by legal action, now or in the past;
- applicants should not do business with individuals and organizations associated with terrorism or provide them support and resources;
- proven ability to organize, including the valid financial procedures, in areas that belong to the proposed activity;
- ability to respond to a demonstrated need;
- potential for achieving performance that will facilitate the inclusion of marginalized populations in the making of political and social decisions in Bosnia and Herzegovina;
- the likelihood that the proposed activities contribute to the achievement of project objectives;
- appropriateness and feasibility of the project activities within the proposed time frame and budget.
