Deadline: 8-Sep-23
What do bird boxes, bee hotels, and nature experts all have in common? They’re all available for free as part of the Local School Nature Grants Programme, supported by players of the People’s Postcode Lottery.
The Local Schools Nature Grants Scheme allows Early Years, Infant, Primary and Secondary school and settings in England, Scotland & Wales to apply for £500 worth of outdoor resources, and a two hour training session thanks to the People’s Postcode Lottery and their funding trusts People’s Postcode Trust, Postcode Neighbourhood Trust, Postcode Places Trust, Postcode Society Trust, Postcode Local Trust and Postcode Community Trust.
Benefits
- £500 worth of products from the LSNG product catalogue.
- 2 hours of CPD on the topic chosen from the LSNG training list for any adults from your setting. This is an opportunity for all the staff at your setting to benefit, not just the lead applicant. This part of the offer is perhaps more valuable than the products, the value lies in the skills and understanding that this session offers. This isn’t a visit to look at potential physical changes to your site, it’ll look at how you use your existing space to teach the curriculum outdoors. Your trainer will be in touch before the session to discuss the content.
- 1 year’s membership to Learning through Landscapes. This sees access to exclusive discounts, offers and outdoor learning resources.
- 3 webinars on a variety of topics.
- A plaque from the Player’s of the People’s Postcode Lottery to display in your setting’s reception area.
What are they looking for?
- Through the Local Schools Nature Grants Scheme LTL is looking for settings whose learners are passionate about making environmental improvements for the benefit of their pupils, staff and the community.
- They want to work with schools/settings who will make great use of the equipment and training supplied by this programme. The ideal partners will include children in the decision making and incorporate their local community. Applications will be assessed on the strength of the ideas expressed and not the writing skills. You don’t need to be an expert bid writer to apply for this funding!
Key Information
- Product catalogue
- With a Local School Nature Grant, you’ll have a budget of £500 to mix and match on items from the product catalogue. They offer a wide variety of products to appeal to a broad range of age groups and projects. All the products are delivered direct to you from the partner suppliers.
- Training catalogue
- You’ll be able to select an outdoor learning training session from a range of themes. A member of the skilled team will then deliver an engaging session for your staff for up to half a day. You will be offered a choice of dates, but they do ask that the training is delivered within the funding round.
Eligibility Criteria
- The grants are available to all schools and early years settings in England, Scotland, and Wales only. Early years settings must employ at least five staff and have a dedicated building, either stand alone or part of a school. School nurseries and the attached school will be classed as one setting.
- They cannot fund outside of the geographical limits. Individual childminders are not eligible to apply. If you have previously been awarded a Local School Nature Grant, you cannot apply again.
