The European Commission, through its Representation in Luxembourg, has launched a call for proposals for organizations wishing to become a EUROPE DIRECT Information Center in the city of Luxembourg for the period 2022-2025.
Scope
- EUROPE DIRECT establishes a proactive and continuous dialogue with citizens in order to strengthen the feeling of belonging to the European project. By organizing information and dialogue activities, EUROPE DIRECT enables citizens to make informed choices about the future of the EU by participating fully in the European democratic process.
- By promoting a better understanding of how the EU and its parliamentary democracy work and of the issues that fall within the EU’s responsibility, EUROPE DIRECT raises awareness among citizens of the benefits the EU brings them in their daily lives, while highlighting highlights its added value.
- EUROPE DIRECT helps to identify aspects of EU policies that are locally important and to tailor messages and activities to local needs. Through awareness-raising activities and dialogue with citizens, EUROPE DIRECT contributes to preparing the ground for the strategic political priorities of the Commission and the Parliament.
- EUROPE DIRECT also listens to citizens’ expectations and provides feedback to EU institutions.
- The EUROPE DIRECTs work in close cooperation with the Representations of the Commission and with the Liaison Offices of the European Parliament in the respective Member States. They also seek to cooperate with other EU networks and local contact points, including local networks (where they exist), and promote mutual exchange and coordination.

- Task 3: Raising awareness of sensitive EU issues at local level
- Task 4: The EU at school
- Task 5: Promotion of a regional network of networks
Funding Information
- The total budget allocated to the co-financing of a project under this call for proposals for the first year of implementation (2022) is 31.400 EUR.
- The amount of each annual grant for the years 2023-2025 will be 45,600 EUR.
- The amount of each annual grant for the year 2022 will be 26,600 EUR.
- In addition, an additional one-off grant is awarded in 2022 for a event promoting EUROPE DIRECT for an amount of EUR 4,800.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible, applications must:
- be submitted using the application form and the system of electronic submission;
- be sent no later than the deadline for submitting applications;
- be written in French or German.
- The following applicants can submit proposals:
- a public body, such as a municipality or other level of local/regional government, or
- a federation/association of local authorities, a non-profit organisation, a social partner, an education or training establishment professional.
- Natural persons are not eligible.
- Only applications from legal persons established in Luxembourg are eligible.
