- High-quality employment opportunities for their people, to improve lifestyles and contribute to the local economy.
- Futureproof new developments to sustain economic expansion.
- Māngere East is a thriving, liveable and connected community centre.
- Community facilities meet their diverse needs, enhancing their lifestyles, culture, and wellbeing.

Protecting their environment and heritage
- Develop cultural heritage areas, ecological preservation, pathways, and community spaces to be enjoyed by all.
- Promoting climate change awareness and resilience.
- Protecting and preserving their waterways, shorelines, and wildlife for future generations to enjoy and look after.
- They collaborate and use their local community assets, facilities and resources well.
- Increase their sense of safety in their neighbourhoods, and reduce harm from gambling, alcohol and synthetic drugs.
- Preserving their local heritage.
- Express and support creative influences throughout their facilities and programmes.

- Enhance transport infrastructure and connections.

- Healthy options for food and drink, including water as the first choice.
- Active lifestyles.
- Tree planting initiatives.

- They will also prioritise projects and/or events that encourage economic recovery activity.

Lower Priority

They will also consider applications for other services, projects and activities. However the following may be considered lower priorities:
- Ticketed events.
- Activities that primarily benefit communities outside the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board area.
- Activities that primarily benefit a third party (e.g. activity to gain money for an organisation).
- Grants to support the purchase of, or maintenance associated with, motor vehicles.
- Wages or operational costs.
- Grants to support equipment or items for one-off events.
- Initiatives that are eligible and can be funded by central government.
