The MasterCard Foundation is currently inviting applications from around the world for its Rural Prosperity 2016 Scaling Competition.
The challenge of the Scaling competition is to take proven concepts, products and business models and to adapt and launch them at a larger scale across new geographies and markets.
Objectives
The MasterCard Foundation Fund for Rural Prosperity aims to help people move out of poverty by improving access to financial products and services that:
- increase their incomes (for example, with agricultural input loans that improve crop yields);
- improve their resilience (for example, through access to insurance or savings); and
- lift their communities (for example, by creating jobs and stimulating the growth of stable, rural finance markets).
Funding Size
The funding amount for this programme lies between US$750,000 to US$2,500,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications will be accepted from anywhere in the world but must be implemented in one or more of eight countries of focus in Africa (Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia).
- Applicants must be-
- Registered for-profit Company
- Expanding proven approaches from proof of concept or pilot stage to new customers or regions
- Must be within geographic scope
- For a project within the company.
