Does your organization work to raise the voice of marginalized groups in Myanmar, and do you strive to build lobby and advocacy capacity of these groups in order for everyone to have a say in the future of Myanmar? Then the Kingdom of the Netherlands is looking to support you!
The Ministry of the Kingdom of the Netherlands has launched a Call for Proposals for the Accountability Fund (hereafter AF). The AF´s objectives are to strengthen the role and position of civil society by giving a voice to those that have been the least involved in the development of a country.
There is, however, a specific focus on women´s empowerment and participation.

Focus and Criteria
- Only local CSOs are eligible to apply. Ensuring local ownership and legitimacy is important.
- Priority will be given to local CSOs representing groups that are hard to reach or that are marginalised.
- The proposed activities must aim to strengthen the lobbying and advocacy capacity of local CSOs. The fund cannot be used to finance service delivery activities.
- The fund has three main thematic priorities: rural women’s rights, disability rights, and natural resource rights with a focus on access to land and water. Proposals from local women’s rights organisations are welcome, in light of the €5 million (global) set aside for these organisations each year.
- Strategic approach: in the interests of complementarity, the activities should align with other activities carried out by the embassy and other donors as much as possible. Priority should be given to multi-year financing, in order to avoid fragmentation (see Human Rights Fund).
- There is no minimum amount that can be awarded for an individual activity, yet considering the total amount per annum the maximum amount is set at €100.000.
