The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund is accepting applications for its Montevideo East: Center for the promotion, prevention, and care of psycho-emotional well-being and mental health of adolescents and young people, within the framework of the Neither Silence nor Taboo.
The general objective of the Program is to promote the psychoemotional well-being of the adolescent and youth population in the country through social mobilization, advocacy, and care, with an emphasis on community outreach and participation.
The mental health of adolescents and young people is a topic of growing interest and concern that has gained new visibility and complexity as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Components
- The program is fundamentally based on five components:
- Social Mobilization and Promotion of the Well-being of Adolescents and Young People:
- The objective is to place the topic of mental health in adolescents and young people on the national and regional public agenda and promote social awareness and well-being promotion actions, with their leading participation.
- Training of Adult Role Models:
- The objective is to raise awareness and train adult role models to provide tools for working with adolescents and young people on psycho-emotional well-being. This includes the production and dissemination of awareness-raising materials and tools on the topic and training for formal and non-formal education personnel and other adult role models.
- Community Referral Services:
- This component refers to the implementation of wellness promotion centers in the territory, as referred to in the programmatic bases presented in this document.
- Knowledge Production:
- The objective is to produce knowledge on adolescent and youth mental health, drawing on diverse sources and in dialogue with relevant agencies, including the State and academia, to generate evidence-based public policies and monitor the adolescent mental health situation and the results of the Program.
- Inter-institutional coordination:
- The objective is to lead, promote, and sustain the inter-institutional coordination of the Program, in order to ensure the timeliness and complementarity of actions at the different levels of intervention.
