The Moray Climate Action Network is now accepting applications for its small grant program, which aims to support grassroots efforts focused on climate and nature-related initiatives in the Moray region.
This funding opportunity is designed to assist individuals and community groups in creating practical and meaningful projects that deliver benefits for both people and the planet. Projects are encouraged to address key areas such as reducing carbon emissions, restoring or protecting nature, raising public awareness, or building community resilience.
As part of the initiative, support is also available through the Nature Restoration Fund. This fund specifically targets projects that aim to conserve, regenerate, or promote local biodiversity and natural habitats.
In total, £17,500 is available for distribution, thanks to a partnership with Moray Council. Of this, £10,000 is allocated for nature restoration efforts, while £7,500 is dedicated to climate-related actions.
The program welcomes small-scale projects that contribute to nature protection or restoration, promote carbon reduction, encourage climate change awareness, foster sustainable travel, food, or growing practices, and strengthen community ties and resilience.
Grants may be used to cover a variety of essential costs, including tools, materials, plants, equipment, venue hire, printing, and other resources necessary to deliver the proposed activities.
However, some costs are not eligible for funding. These include expenses related to political or religious campaigning, profit-making or fundraising ventures, and alcohol.
The grant is open to a wide range of applicants, including voluntary and not-for-profit organizations, such as community associations, clubs, and informal groups operating in Moray. Individuals are also eligible to apply.
Individuals can apply for a grant of up to £200, while constituted community groups and organizations may request funding of up to £2,000.
