The Benefact Group is looking for charities which can demonstrate a clearly identified need and want to take their work to a new level, boosting their ability to make a difference.
Through the larger grants, they are actively championing innovation, giving charities the backing they need to propel their plans forward and turn creative ideas into practical solutions that benefit society. The larger grants are for exciting and innovative projects.
Themes
- The project must support one of the below four themes:
- Education and skills
- They’re looking for projects which Promote or sustain skills and expertise among any group of people.
- Rural or community development
- They’re looking for projects which Strengthen a community to make it more inclusive, supportive or sustainable.
- Arts, heritage or culture
- They’re looking for projects which Promote or support the history and traditions or focuses on the protection and preservation of historic land and buildings.
- Climate change or environment
- They’re looking for projects which Contribute to the collective challenge to tackle impact on the climate and environment.
- Education and skills
Funding Information
- They are awarding grants of £10,000 and more in this phase of the programme.
What they do fund?
- Charities whose projects clearly fit into one of the four key themes.
- Charities with specific projects or innovative initiatives that have clear outcomes and benefits.
- You can apply for a larger grant even if you’ve received any level of Movement for Good funding before.
What they don’t fund?
- Individuals.
- Charities that don’t clearly fit into one of the four key themes.
- Charities with a political association.
- The larger grants are unlikely to fund hospices & paliative care organisations, places of worship, animal shelters and rescue charities.

Eligibility Criteria
- “Eligible Charity” is any charity which:
- has been in existence for at least six months;
- is registered with one of the following:
- the Charity Commission for England and Wales;
- the Jersey Charity Commissioner or the Guernsey Registry as applicable in respect of the Channel Islands, or the Central Registry in respect of the Isle of Man;
- the Charity Commission in Northern Ireland;
- the Charities Regulator for the Republic of Ireland; and
- the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator; (each a “Regulator” and together “the Regulators”); or is exempt from registration with any of the Regulators, but is accepted as an eligible charity by the Promoter at the Promoter’s sole discretion;
- is a not for profit organisation or a registered community interest company;
- has satisfied the due diligence process requirements of the Promoter;
- does not discriminate unlawfully in any way, as determined by the sole discretion of the Promoter;
- does not support any specific political party or affiliated group; and
- does not relate to any controversial subject matter that is contrary to the values and expectations of the Promoter and its group of companies.
