Deadline: 12 July 2017
The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) is seeking applications for “Innovation Follow-on” with an aim to increase and accelerate the uptake and impact of research council funded research outputs by supporting translational and knowledge exchange activity which delivers direct tangible and demonstrable benefits to end users, particularly businesses.
Funds will be used to support projects which focus upon generating user applicable outputs from past and/or current research and which translates them into outcomes that achieve impact within the NERC remit (in the UK and/or in developing countries).
Project Categories
Whilst projects can be purely UK-focused, NERC also welcomes projects that are aimed at improving economic growth and welfare in developing countries. Proposals are therefore invited in two categories:
- Enabling Innovation in the UK – Proposals to increase and accelerate the uptake and impact of Research Council funded research outputs, working with UK end users for primarily UK-based impacts.
- Enabling Innovation in developing countries – Proposals to increase and accelerate the uptake and impact of Research Council funded research outputs to address challenges faced by developing countries, specifically with the primary purpose to promote the economic development and welfare of least developed, Low and/or Middle Income Countries (LMIC) on the Development Assistance Committee (DAC).
Funding Information
NERC has allocated up to £1.65M for this call and is inviting applications for awards up to a maximum cost of £125,000 (£100,000 NERC contribution at 80% full economic cost) and duration of 18 months, per project.
Eligibility Criteria
The fund is open to current or past research council grant-holders:
