The Netherland-America Foundation (NAF) is looking to fund exhibitions and performances for artists, promoting a high level of artistic and intellectual exchange between the United States and the Netherlands.
Both emerging artists and established organizations are welcome to apply!
Funding Information
- The average grant award ranges between $1,500-$5,000, but higher or lower requests are open to consideration depending on the scope of the project. Additional sources of funding are highly encouraged to include.
Submission Guidelines
- Letter of Intent:
- One page, which provides:
- A brief overview of the project, in English, including a clear description of the level of Dutch and American exchange found in the project
- Date(s) of performance and timeline and any relevant participants
- Grant amount to be requested (estimate is fine)
- If the Cultural Committee is interested in the project, the applicant will be invited to submit a full grant application, but this does not guarantee an award. A letter of intent is not required in order to submit a full application.
- One page, which provides:

- Applications must be submitted at least six (6) months before the grant is needed to ensure proper consideration. Proposals for projects that are already underway, or have been concluded at the time of the review, are not funded. Organizations or individuals who have recently received funding should wait three years before re-applying. Grantees must credit The Netherland-America Foundation in all publications, publicity, and programs of the sponsored project with the NAF logo.
- A completed application should include the following information in English:
- Cover letter (1-2 pages): This must contain a summary of the project and the requested grant amount. The cover letter should also include a description of the proposed project, timeline, performing dates, and the professional background of the principal participants, as well as total grant funding requested.
- Budget (maximum 1 page): Include an itemized list of proposed expenditures. Other committed and pending funding sources must be included, as well as the status of this funding at the time of application submission. The budget should clearly indicate what item(s) will be covered by a NAF grant. Please provide an amount in US dollars. For more information, visit NAF.
- Letter(s) of support from partnering organizations and any contracts or agreements between presenters and the artist may be submitted when relevant.
- Supporting material, such as photographs, slides, or videos.
- Final Project Report:
- All awardees are required to submit a final project report within three months of the grant’s completion, including video and photo material for promotional use by the NAF. No new applications for a future project of yours will be considered if your final report is not submitted.
