The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is currently seeking proposals for its program- Support of NIGMS Program Project Grants.
The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) program encourages innovative, interactive Program Project grant applications from institutions/organizations that propose to conduct research which aims to solve a significant biological problem, important for the mission of NIGMS, through a collaborative approach involving outstanding scientists.
The Program Project grant is designed to support research in which the funding of several interdependent projects as a group offers significant scientific advantages over support of these same projects as individual regular research grants.
Thematic Areas
The program supports research in the following broad areas:
- Cell Biology and Biophysics;
- Genetics and Developmental Biology;
- Pharmacology, Physiology, and
- Biological Chemistry; and Bioinformatics and
- Computational Biology.
Funding Information
The total estimated funding for this program will be $6,500,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Independent school districts
- Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments)
- Special district governments
- State governments
- City or township governments
- For profit organizations other than small businesses
- Public housing authorities/Indian housing authorities
- County governments
- Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
- Others (see text field entitled “Additional Information on Eligibility” for clarification)
- Small businesses
- Private institutions of higher education
- Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized)
- Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
- Public and State controlled institutions of higher education
- Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian Serving Institutions
- Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AANAPISISs)
- Eligible Agencies of the Federal Government
- Faith-based or Community-based Organizations
- Hispanic-serving Institutions
- Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)
- Indian/Native American Tribal Governments (Other than Federally Recognized)
- Non-domestic (non-U.S.) Entities (Foreign Organizations)
- Regional Organizations; Tribally Controlled Colleges and Universities (TCCUs)
- U. S. Territory or Possession
- Non-domestic (non-U.S.) Entities (Foreign Institutions) are not eligible to apply.
- Non-domestic (non-U.S.) components of U.S. Organizations are not eligible to apply.
- Foreign components, as defined in the NIH Grants Policy Statement, are allowed.
