The U.S. Department of State’s Consulate General Peshawar announces an open competition for one assistance award through this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), contingent on funding availability, through the Public Diplomacy Grants Program. The grant will implement a program on Climate Action Through Religious Interventions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Project Goal
- Increase the capacity of religious leaders to encourage their congregations to reduce their climate footprints and to take action to protect the environment.
Project Objectives
- Train 50 clerics of different faiths from three regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to understand and communicate accurately the issues of climate change.

- Award Ceiling: $100,000
- Award Floor: $70,000
- Length of performance period: 12-18 months
- Number of awards anticipated: One (1) award
- Anticipated program start date: October 1, 2024
Project Audience(s)
- Direct Audience: Religious leaders from Muslim, Christian, Hindu and Sikh communities. The grantee will also include female religious leaders.
- Indirect Audience: The general public living in the target regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Eligibility Criteria
- The following organizations are eligible to apply:
- Not-for-profit organizations
- Civil society/non-governmental organizations
- For-profit entities, even those that may fall into the categories listed above, are not eligible to apply for this NOFO. Organizations may sub-contract with other entities, but only one, non-profit, non-governmental entity can be the prime recipient of the award. When sub-contracting with other entities, the responsibilities of each entity must be clearly defined in the proposal.
Ineligible
- This opportunity will not support:
- Projects relating to partisan political activity;
- Charitable or development activities;
- Construction projects;
- Projects that support specific religious activities;
- Fund-raising campaigns;
- Lobbying for specific legislation or programs;
- Scientific research or surveys.
