Deadline: 21-Feb-25
The Administration for Community Living has announced its Disability and Rehabilitation Research Projects Program to generate new knowledge about the effect of evolving healthcare policies on health and function, community living and participation, or employment outcomes of people with disabilities.
Priorities
- The Administrator of the Administration for Community Living establishes a priority for a Disability and Rehabilitation Research Project (DRRP) on Health Care Policy and Disability. Under this priority, applicants must propose to generate new knowledge about the effects of evolving healthcare policies on health and function, community living and participation, or employment outcomes among people with disabilities. To contribute to positive outcomes among people with disabilities in one or more of these domains, the DRRP must:
- Conduct research to examine the relationship between evolving healthcare policies and health and function, community living and participation, or employment outcomes of working-age people with disabilities.
- Demonstrate, in its original application, that people with disabilities from racial and ethnic minority backgrounds will be included in study samples in sufficient numbers to generate knowledge and products that are relevant to the racial and ethnic diversity of the population of people with disabilities being studied.
- Focus its research on a specific stage of research. If the DRRP is to conduct research that can be categorized under more than one stage, including research that progresses from one stage to another, those stages must be clearly specified and justified.
- Conduct knowledge translation activities (i.e., utilization, dissemination) to facilitate stakeholder (e.g., people with disabilities, employers, policymakers, practitioners) use of the knowledge or products that result from the research activities conducted.
- Work with NIDILRR and ACL staff, under guidance and facilitation provided by the DRRP’s NIDILRR project officer, to develop at least one research-based healthcare policy brief each year.
- Involve people with disabilities and other key stakeholder groups in the design and conduct of all research and knowledge translation activities carried out under this priority.
- Ensure that all materials, websites and information technology tools and products that the DRRP plans to develop or maintain are accessible, and that electronic materials are produced in full compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (29 U.S.C. 794d).
