The Cultural Heritage Center (CHC) in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) at the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit proposals for funding through the Ukraine Cultural Heritage Response Initiative-Countering False Narratives (UCHRI-CFN), a program to strengthen the capacity of communities, civil society and governments in Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia collaboratively counter false narratives concerning cultural heritage.
Program Objectives
- The overall intent of this initiative is to support projects and initiatives that use exchange and other forms of interchange and collaboration to strengthen programs that help communities, civil society, and government institutions counter false narratives related to cultural heritage. The intended outcome is an informed public capable of discerning between narratives related to cultural heritage that are rooted in historical fact and those that are false and have been constructed and disseminated for questionable purposes.

- Award Amounts: $50,000 – $500,000
- Length of Performance Period: 12-60 months
- Number of Awards Anticipated: 4-20
- Anticipated Program Start Date: 30 September 2024

- Central Asia: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan.
