In line with its strategic priorities in Somalia for 2019, the Norwegian Embassy in Nairobi is seeking concept notes for a stabilization project (2019-2021). The concept notes should seek to integrate quick Impact, high visibility and Early Recovery projects and Long-term stabilization projects.
The concepts should aim to be in line with the following objectives:
- Contributing to strengthening the compact between citizens and authorities and extend state authority;
- Contribute to employment creation specifically for youth and women through labor intensive employment, vocational training and support towards renewable energy.
Relevant Sectors and Thematic Areas include:
- Democracy/Human Rights /Good Governance/Gender Equality
- Education
- Health
- Private Sector Development/Growth/Employment,
- Peace/Security/Stability/Conflict Reduction,
- Natural Resource Management
- Anti-corruption
- Climate and Food Security
In exceptional cases, the grant scheme may also be used for humanitarian purposes.
Potential Grant Recipients are:
- Public sector institutions
- Civil society organizations
- Regional organizations
- Multilateral organizations
- Norwegian institutions
- Private sector organizations
Requirements
- In order to enter into a grant agreement, the applicant must be a legal person. The applicant must indicate the type of organization in the application.
- As a rule, the application form for the grant management regime(s) in question should be used. If this application form is not used, it should be referred to as a checklist by the applicant, and by the program officer when processing the application, to ensure that the necessary elements have been included.
- In order to ensure effective use and administration of funds, priority will not be given to grants of less than NOK 5 million. Projects of a particular or strategic importance of less than NOK 5 million may be considered to a limited extent.
