The DeadlyScience is offering Grants to build engagement in STEM and support the development of STEM skills in students in rural, remote and very remote schools across Australia.
Objectives
- The project offers you the opportunity to design a STEM learning experience that suits the unique circumstances of your school and students, with the funding to be provided by DeadlyScience. The objectives of the grant round are:
- Engagement: Celebrating STEM knowledge and its enjoyment
- Education: Developing a stronger scientific literacy in the STEM fields
- Enrolment: Intentions of students to choose STEM subjects in further years and for students to investigate STEM concepts and knowledge further outside of class
- Employment: Awareness and opportunity of careers in STEM
What DeadlyScience will provide?
- DeadlyScience will provide up to $5000 for schools to use in order to support and purchase resources that will help your students in STEM learning. This can be used for the following, but not limited to:
- STEM resources and/or equipment
- Teacher professional development
- Class trips and travel
- Incursions and/or workshops for students delivered in school
- Books
- Lesson resources
- There are nine (9) DeadlyGrants projects available from DeadlyScience in round 1 to successful applicants. Each project will provide up to the value of $5000. At the end of the project any physical resources remain the property of your school.
- In addition to the funding, DeadlyScience will also provide an online lesson as a part of the DeadlyLearners program with the DeadlyScience team and scientists to support the project.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible to apply you must:
- be a government or non-government school
- have current public liability insurance cover
- have an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student population of more that 15% of the total student population, or
- be classified as a rural, remote or very remote school
