The Queensland Government has announced Organic Waste Smart Schools Grant Program an open competitive grant process, with some funding dedicated to support applications from regional and remote areas.
Streams
- Stream one: State Schools and their affiliated Parents and Citizens (P&C) or Parents and Friends (P&F) located in Major Cities and Inner Regional areas.
- $275,000
- Stream two: State Schools and their affiliated P&C or P&F located in Outer Regional areas.
- $150,000
- Stream three: State Schools and their affiliated P&C and P&F located in Remote and Very Remote areas.
- $75,000
- Grants of up to $2,500 are available for the purchase of equipment to deliver organic waste avoidance and resource recovery projects that meet the Program’s objectives.
Which projects are eligible?
- A range of projects are eligible to receive funding as long as they include the purchase of equipment that is used to reduce organic waste.
- Below are some examples of the type of projects that could be supported:
- organic waste related infrastructure such as worm farms, composting systems or other organic systems
- organic waste related signage to encourage positive behaviour change
- source separation bins, specifically to increase organic recycling and reduce what goes to landfill.
- The organic waste project/s outlined in your application should address an existing waste or resource recovery challenge at your school. The project/s must be in addition to or different to activities that are already being conducted. Business-as-usual activities or activities that are already funded will not be supported.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications can be made by or on behalf of an eligible Queensland state school by teachers, and affiliated Parents and Citizens (P&C) or Parents and Friends Associations (P&F).
- To ensure equitable access to funding for eligible schools across Queensland, funding has been dedicated to three streams.
