Deadline: 1 March 2018
The Trustees of the True Colors Trust have set aside funds for a microfinance program for hospices and palliative care providers across Africa to support the development of palliative care.
Nominations and funds are administered by the African Association for Palliative Care (APCA).
Funding Information
- The sum of the funds allocated is between £ 500 and £ 5,000.
- The funding is mainly allocated to one-off projects, with a duration not exceeding one year.
Funding Priorities
Administrators prioritize their support for projects that directly improve the patient experience and standard of palliative care for people of all ages. Priority is given to the following projects, without order of importance:
- Training Courses for Palliative Care Providers in Africa (Applicants must provide a program / plan of topics covered, and provide the name of the organization that accredits them.) Funds will be released upon receipt of the letter of acceptance from the training organization)
- Equipment for patients (e.g. beds, wheelchairs). For the equipment, will need at least three quotes attached to the application, with the preferred quote and the reasons that justify this choice.
- Projects that support palliative care services (which may include the purchase of toys, or the integration of pediatric services into existing programs, or the development of advocacy materials, etc.)
- Medication.
- Capital improvement costs (such as renovating buildings to improve the patient experience, buying furniture, etc.)
- The development of small projects for palliative care (the integration of palliative care elements, the adaptation of palliative care models, the improvement of the quality of the activities, with for example the respect of the palliative care standards, the equipment development, etc.) and helping palliative care providers to establish new palliative care projects where they do not yet exist.
- Improving access to palliative care in rural areas.
