The European Commission has launched its Participation and Leadership Program for Women and Girls in Benin.
Objectives
- This call for proposals operationalizes the specific objectives 1 and 2 of Action 62822 Participation and leadership of women and girls in Benin financed by the European Union in Benin. The Action also includes a specific objective 3 “The capacities of institutional, political and civil actors are strengthened so that they can effectively promote the participation and leadership of women and girls” which will be implemented by a pool of experts with which the consortia selected following this call must collaborate closely.
- The general objective of this call for proposals is: To promote female leadership to encourage the participation of girls and women in decision-making in Beninese society.
- The specific objective(s) of this call for proposals is/are:
- OS1: Women and girls, particularly those in vulnerable situations, position themselves to assume leadership roles capable of making their voices heard and guiding collective actions;
- OS2 : Stereotypes, discrimination and socio-cultural norms that limit the participation and leadership of women and girls are challenged.
Priorities
- This call for proposals has the following priority(ies):
- to provide women and girls with the intellectual and psychological means to make their voices, desires, and ideas heard in both the public and private spheres in a society heavily dominated by what men think and speak.
- to involve men and boys, and society as a whole, to create an environment conducive to the voices of women and girls being raised in the public sphere and in the daily lives of each and every person.

- This call for proposals includes 2 lots which correspond to the geographical areas of action:
- Lot 1: Alibori, Atacora, Borgou, Collines, Donga
- Lot 2: Atlantic, Couffo, Littoral, Mono, Ouémé, Plateau, Zou
Funding Information
- Any grant requested under this call for proposals must not exceed the maximum amount indicated below.
- Lot 1: Maximum amount: EUR 1,850,000
- Lot 2: Maximum amount: EUR 1,850,000
Duration
- The initial planned duration of an action cannot be less than 36 months nor exceed 48 months.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:
- be a legal entity and
- be non-profit and
- be a non-governmental organization and
- be established in one of the countries eligible under the Neighborhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument – Global Europe and
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), without acting as an intermediary, and
- be in none of the situations provided for in section 2.4 of the PRAG and
- be an organization whose mission is to promote women’s rights and gender equality and
- Have successfully managed projects with a budget at least equivalent to the proposal made for this project
