Port Macquarie Hastings Council is seeking applications for Community Grants from not-for-profit organisation and community group to support innovative and sustainable projects.
The Community Grants Program is an investment in community-led projects, activities and events to make community life better.
Proposed Projects Types
Proposed projects must fall within one of the following categories:
- Community Projects: To provide opportunities to deliver inclusive projects and programs that enhance community spaces, wellbeing and participation.
- Creative Community: To provide opportunities to support the delivery of creative activities such as performances, visual arts, dance, drama, and music.
- Community Celebrations: To provide opportunities to deliver events that enhance social inclusion and celebrate national days of significance.
- Micro Grants: To support unexpected opportunities for the community organisations to enhance people, places and spaces.
Funding Information
- Community Projects: $10,000
- Creative Community: $5,000
- Community Celebrations: $5,000
- Micro Grants: $2,000
Eligibility Criteria
- Incorporated ‘not-for-profit’ organisations, community or voluntary groups based in the Port Macquarie-Hastings LGA
- Unincorporated groups or individuals can apply, but they need to submit their application through an incorporated organisation who supports their project and agrees to take responsibility for the funding (grant). The funding agreement will be between Council and the incorporated organisation acting as the auspice body.
- An organisation must provide:
- Certificate of their Incorporation/Not for Profit status.
- ABN / or letter from an eligible auspice body – your financial partner.
- Certificate of Public Liability Insurance (min. $20 million).
- Most recent annual report or audited financial statement for the organisation.
- An applicant must:
- Demonstrate the community need including letters of support and community or agency engagement.
- Provide copies of the Organisation’s Certificate of Incorporation status, auspice agreement and insurance.
- Include a project budget with a breakdown of expenditure and income (including inkind). Advise amount of funding sought.
- Supply 2 quotes for all expenses and or services over $2,000.
- Be responsible for obtaining and paying for any other approvals required for the project.
Ineligibility Criteria
- Projects that have already started or are complete.
- Projects with an outstanding acquittal from a past grant round where an extension has not been granted.
- On-going operating costs such as rent, application fees, electricity, insurance, stationery, cleaning.
- Works on private property.
- Projects and events of a commercial nature, for personal profit such as ticketed events that generate revenue.
- Projects that are for the purpose of servicing individual groups such as equipment purchases, fees or wages.
- Equipment with ongoing service costs.
- Reflect or replicate core business of Council.
- Have received funding from another area of Council for the same project.
- Direct requests for donations or fundraising.
Assessment Criteria
Applications will be evaluated based on their ability to demonstrate:
- Benefit to the Community: How the project, activity, or event will benefit a specific community group and/or the broader community.
- Community Need: That your project meets an objective in the Community Strategic Plan, or an action in a town and village Community Plan or Council’s Community Inclusion Plan.
- Community Consultation: Evidence of community consultation in the planning process for the activity. Supporting letters, surveys, project partner involvement, supporting data.
- Budget and Organisational Capacity: A realistic and costed budget including required quotes. The group’s ability to carry out the project effectively – showcase your ability to undertake the proposed project. Past experience with something similar, volunteer numbers, etc.
