Applications are now open for the Postcode Recovery Fund to support charities to address the many issues affecting people as society recovers from the effects of the pandemic.
The Postcode Recovery Fund has been created to support charities to develop innovative solutions that address the many issues affecting people as society recovers from the effects of the pandemic.
The funding will come from the Postcode Dream Trust, which was created to provide opportunities for charities to deliver their dream projects through collaboration. The Trust’s work has been realigned this year to support COVID-19 recovery efforts.
Priority Areas
Priority areas for support include:
- Educational Inequalities – They are looking for projects that can address the long-term implications that the closing of schools and interruption of education will have for children’s development and life opportunities.
- Homelessness – The pandemic has meant homeless people have been given accommodation for a sustained length of time. As things return to normal, how can we build on the work done to prevent homelessness?
- Domestic Violence – Domestic violence has seen a significant rise during the pandemic. They welcome applications around prevention, intervention and support for trauma.
- Health and wellbeing – They are looking for projects that can demonstrate a clear plan to support the health and wellbeing of groups who have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic. E.g. refugees, elderly, BAME as well as those who have not been able to access diagnosis or support during the lockdown, such as those with existing health conditions.
- Social exclusion and isolation – The pandemic has highlighted the number of people who are isolated, and the negative impact this has on people’s mental and physical health. The pandemic has also affected groups who don’t have high visibility e.g. careers, disabled people, elderly. How can we build sustainable solutions to this problem?
- Poverty – Foodbank use and emergency free meals have seen huge demand during the pandemic. They are looking for projects to help combat this type of poverty at a root level (not just treating the outcome).
Funding Information

Postcode Recovery Fund will offer a total award fund of £3,000,000 for charitable organisations to deliver projects within Great Britain in 2021-2023.

Charities can apply for up £1,000,000 to deliver a project 12-24 months in length.
What they will fund?
- Charities in Great Britain, i.e. organisations who are registered charities with official charity numbers (i.e. registered with the Charity Commission or with OSCR).
- Charities who have an annual income at least twice the amount that is being applied for (i.e. if applying for £500,000 then the lead applicant must have an income of at least £1 million and if applying for £1 million then the lead applicant must have an income of at least £2 million as evidenced by their latest audited accounts).
- The Fund supports projects that:
- Take place in Great Britain.
- Are addressing a systemic issue related to the effects of the pandemic.
- Are innovative and attempting to break new ground.
- Leave a significant and tangible legacy after one year.
- Meet pandemic related funding priorities.
Application Process
Stage 1:
- Applicants submit their proposal through a simple online application form. Applicants provide the following details:
- A brief description of the organisation;
- A project description;
- Details of the pandemic related issue the project will address;
- Project mission statement;
- The amount of funding requested.
Stage 2
- The most impressive, impactful and original projects will then be shortlisted and asked to apply via a more detailed application form.
Stage 3
- Stage 2 applicants will then be shortlisted further and the very best entries will be asked to give a formal presentation on their project to the Postcode Recovery Fund Assessment Panel.
